Francis grew up in Soroti in northeast Uganda. This is an area that is known for cattle rearing. As a young boy, Francis was a cattle keeper and he loved honey, so as a boy he would often search for wild bee hives as he grazed the cattle. This experience piqued his interest in beekeeping.  Francis is married and has three children 15, 14, 10.  Currently, Francis is a trainer with the Office of the Prime Minister and hosts 15 beekeeping trainings in different communities across the Teso Region in Uganda and oversees 2,500 hive projects but lacked the capital to start his own business. In 2019 Francis attended ELD training and with the support of ELD is operating 51 hives of his own and has signed up 750 people in the community to train in beekeeping.
